Due to the warm sea temperatures the tropical storm quickly intensified into a hurricane. Hurricane Andrew was known for having a powerful, compact size which left devastating effects on specific locations.

Hurricane Andrew made landfall in Homestead, Florida, leaving entire neighborhoods and well-constructed buildings obliterated. Hurricane Andrew left thousands of people homeless, with economic losses surpassing $25 Billion.
